Home is about so much more than survival. It is a space in the heart with room for the most precious and intimate parts of our lives. Home is where we feel safe to be ourselves. And... when we feel at home on the Earth, we want our dwellings to be wholesome for ourselves and for all the other life on our planet. The way home leads to harmony, fulfillment, and sustainable living.

Home, Happiness, and Health

Butterfly

The human struggle for happiness continues to be linked to a wide range of issues surrounding the home.

Timeless Treasure
This single institution spans the entire history of humankind with its promise of well being. It is remarkable that such a fragile part of life can be so enduring.

Personal Value
Home is a reflection of our innermost self. It nutures, sustains, and supports growth of body, mind, and spirit. Home comforts the suffering. When we lose our way, we long for home. When we are home, we know who we are. When we feel at home, life is never foreign or strange.

Global Community
Home is also the very essence of community. It is the difference we make together reflected in our families, neighborhoods, nations, and the world. When we act upon our concern for one another, we make a home of our planet.

Sacred Space

The entire earth is sacred, your dwelling included. Transform your place on this planet into a home, and you make the world a better place for everyone.

Shelters, Abodes, and Dwellings

We all need a place to be, right? What's important is not where you live. It's how you live that counts. Whether your house is an apartment, flat, hotel, mud hut, igloo, yert, tipi, tent, earthship, or if it is made of tin, sod, stone, brick, cobb, adobe, cardboard, wood, rammed earth, cordwood, or straw bale, only you can make it home.

Telecommuting

The nice thing about having a good home is that it makes you happy to be there; the hard thing about home is that you don't want to leave. So how do you make a living? Instead of commuting try telecommuting. This is a great way to do yourself and the planet a favor.
